SHANEIKA ASARE SIMMS

Shaneika Asare Simms is a mother/artist, researcher and writer exploring motherhood, Blackness, and the politics of visibility across digital platforms through experimental diary films and lecture performances.

Drawing on feminist theory, internet culture, and research-creation principles, she examines how marginalised identities navigate systems that demand performance, legibility, and disclosure. Shaneika uses moving image and YouTube as a democratised, algorithm-based distribution platform to ruminate on lensed theory, a term she coined to describe autotheoretical moving image practices that engage with the internet, communication, and visual culture. Her work utilises the edit as a method of thinking, refusing, and reclaiming agency.

She is based in London with a background in film and content production.
